Helping Newcomers Navigate Financial Life in the USA & Canada
About Money Abroad Guide
Hi, I’m Talal Eddaouahiri, founder of Money Abroad Guide.
I created this platform to help immigrants, expats, international students, and newcomers better understand the financial systems in the United States and Canada — from banking and credit scores to money transfers, budgeting, taxes, and financial stability.
I was born and raised in Morocco and later moved to the United States in 2015. Since then, I’ve experienced firsthand the financial challenges many newcomers face when starting a new life abroad.
Over the years, I have traveled frequently between the United States, Spain, and Morocco, which gave me direct exposure to international banking systems, cross-border money transfers, exchange rate challenges, and the real financial struggles immigrants deal with every day.
Like many newcomers, I quickly realized that most financial information online was written for people who already understood the North American financial system. Very few websites explained things clearly for immigrants starting from zero.
That experience became one of the main reasons I launched Money Abroad Guide.
My Background
Before building Money Abroad Guide, I worked in banking, customer relations, and financial services, helping clients navigate financial products, banking services, and international transactions.
Over time, I developed practical experience in:
- International money transfers
- Retail banking
- Customer financial support
- Budgeting and financial education
- Cross-border financial challenges
- Newcomer financial integration
I also speak multiple languages, including English, French, Arabic, and Spanish, which helps me better understand the needs of diverse immigrant communities.
Today, I focus on building educational financial content and comparison guides specifically designed for newcomers in the USA and Canada.
Why Money Abroad Guide Exists
Money Abroad Guide was created with one mission:
To make financial education simple, practical, and accessible for immigrants and newcomers.
Starting over in a new country is already difficult enough. Understanding banking systems, building credit, avoiding hidden transfer fees, managing taxes, and choosing the right financial services should not feel impossible.
Unfortunately, many newcomers:
- Lose money on poor exchange rates
- Struggle to build credit history
- Choose expensive banking products
- Misunderstand financial systems
- Waste months learning through costly mistakes
This platform exists to help people avoid those mistakes and build financial confidence faster.
Why Trust Us
We understand that financial decisions are personal and important. Here is why thousands of newcomers rely on Money Abroad Guide:
- Real lived experience. Our founder is an immigrant who has personally navigated banking, credit-building, and money transfers across the USA, Canada, Spain, and Morocco.
- Professional banking background. Years of work in retail banking, customer relations, and financial services inform every guide we publish.
- Independent research. We compare providers using publicly available rates, official fee schedules, and our own testing — not marketing claims.
- Transparent disclosures. When an article contains affiliate links, we say so clearly. Our editorial choices are never sold.
- Beginner-friendly explanations. We write for people starting from zero, not for finance professionals.
- Regular updates. Financial products change. We review and update our most important guides on an ongoing basis.
