1.3 Cookies and Similar Technologies

We use cookies, web beacons, and similar tracking technologies to operate the Site, measure traffic, and improve content. Cookies fall into three categories:

  • Strictly necessary cookies required for the Site to function.
  • Analytics cookies that help us understand how visitors use the Site (e.g., Google Analytics).
  • Advertising cookies used by Google AdSense and other partners to deliver personalized ads.

You can control cookies through our consent banner and through your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may affect Site functionality.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • To operate, maintain, and improve the Site
  • To send newsletters and respond to inquiries you submit
  • To analyze traffic and reader behavior to improve content quality
  • To prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents
  • To display relevant advertising and measure its performance
  • To comply with legal obligations

We do not sell personal information for monetary consideration. We do not knowingly collect information from children under the age of 13.

3. Advertising and Third-Party Partners

3.1 Google AdSense

This Site may display advertisements served by Google AdSense and its partners. Google uses cookies, including the DoubleClick DART cookie, to serve ads based on your visits to this and other sites on the Internet. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings or aboutads.info.

3.2 Analytics Providers

We use Google Analytics and Google Site Kit to understand Site usage. These services collect IP addresses and behavioral data on our behalf. Google’s privacy practices are described at policies.google.com/privacy.

3.3 Affiliate Networks

We work with affiliate networks and financial service providers (such as Wise, Remitly, OFX, Xe, and others). When you click an affiliate link, the partner may set tracking cookies and collect information about your activity on their site. Read more in our Affiliate Disclosure.

4. How We Share Information

We share information only in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service providers who host the Site, send emails, or process analytics on our behalf, under contractual confidentiality obligations.
  • Advertising and affiliate partners as described in Section 3.
  • Legal authorities when required by law, subpoena, or court order, or to protect our rights and safety.
  • Successors in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of business assets.

5. Your Privacy Rights

5.1 California Residents (CCPA / CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion, to correct inaccurate information, to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for targeted advertising, and to limit the use of sensitive personal information. To exercise these rights, contact us at talal@moneyabroadguide.com. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

5.2 European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland (GDPR)

If you are located in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability. Our lawful bases are consent (cookies and newsletter), legitimate interest (site security and analytics), and legal obligation. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

5.3 Other Jurisdictions

Residents of Canada (PIPEDA), Quebec (Law 25), Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, and other states with comprehensive privacy laws have rights similar to those described above. Contact us to exercise any rights available under your local law.

6. Data Retention

We retain personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this Policy or as required by law. Newsletter records are kept until you unsubscribe. Analytics data is retained according to provider defaults (Google Analytics: up to 14 months by default). Comments may be retained indefinitely unless removal is requested.

7. International Data Transfers

Money Abroad Guide is hosted and operated in the United States. If you access the Site from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, which may have different data protection standards than your home country. By using the Site, you consent to this transfer.

8. Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information, including HTTPS encryption, restricted server access, and regular security updates. No system, however, is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children’s Privacy

The Site is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA/UK). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.

10. Do Not Track

Some browsers transmit a “Do Not Track” signal. Because there is no industry standard for honoring this signal, we currently do not respond to it. You can still control tracking through our consent banner and your browser settings.
