In plain English: Money Abroad Guide earns money when readers sign up for some of the financial services we recommend. It costs you nothing extra, and we only recommend products we genuinely believe help newcomers in the USA and Canada.
1. Affiliate Relationships
Money Abroad Guide is an independent educational publication that helps immigrants, expats, and international students understand personal finance in the United States and Canada. To keep our content free, we participate in affiliate and referral programs with selected financial service providers.
When you click certain links on this Site and complete an action — such as opening an account or completing a money transfer — we may receive a commission, referral fee, or other compensation from the partner. This does not increase the cost to you in any way.
2. Partners We Work With
We currently have, or may have, affiliate relationships with the following companies and their networks:
- Money transfer services: Wise, Remitly, OFX, Xe, Western Union
- Banking and fintech: select US and Canadian neobanks, brokerages, and credit-building services for newcomers
- Affiliate networks: Impact, Awin, CJ Affiliate, ShareASale, FlexOffers, Partnerize, and similar networks
This list evolves as we add or remove partners. Inclusion of a brand does not imply current partnership, and our partner list does not influence the rankings inside our guides.
3. FTC Compliance
This Disclosure is made in accordance with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR Part 255, “Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising”. Within individual articles, affiliate links are also flagged with clear disclosures so you can identify them as you read.
4. How Affiliate Links Affect Our Content
Our editorial integrity is non-negotiable. To protect it, we follow these rules:
- Recommendations come first, partnerships come second. We choose which products to cover based on quality, transparency, fees, and reader relevance — not on commission rates.
- Rankings are not for sale. No company can pay to be ranked #1 or to be added to a “best of” list.
- We cover non-affiliate products. When the best option for a newcomer is a service we don’t earn money from, we still mention it.
- Negative findings are published. If we find a downside in an affiliate partner’s product, we say so plainly.
- Rates and fees are independently verified. We check pricing directly with the provider rather than relying on marketing material.
Read our full Editorial Policy for the editorial principles we apply across every article.
5. How to Identify an Affiliate Link
Affiliate links on Money Abroad Guide may include:
- An inline disclosure such as “affiliate link” or “partner link” next to the link or within the article
- A button or call-to-action such as “Compare Fees”, “Open an Account”, or “Get Started”
- A tracking domain (e.g., a redirect through an affiliate network) when you click
If you would prefer not to use our affiliate link, you can always navigate directly to the provider’s official website by typing its name into your browser.
6. Sponsored Content
If we ever publish content that has been paid for by a brand (a “sponsored post” or “paid placement”), it will be clearly labeled at the top of the article with wording such as “Sponsored” or “Paid Partnership”. Sponsored content does not override the standards of our Editorial Policy and is subject to the same accuracy review.
7. Advertising
The Site may also display advertising through programs such as Google AdSense and similar networks. These ads are clearly distinguishable from editorial content and are served by third parties based on the policies described in our Privacy Policy.
8. Not Financial Advice
Affiliate disclosures do not change the nature of our content: everything published on Money Abroad Guide is for general educational purposes and is not personalized financial, tax, legal, or investment advice. Always verify product details with the provider and consult a qualified professional before making a financial decision.
